Mac slept for 5 hours last night! I realize it could be (and probably is) a total fluke and won’t happen again for awhile, but I’m excited none the less!!
Mac went to the doctor yesterday for her 1 month check up. First of all, I can’t believe it’s been a month already! Time really does fly. She now weighs 9 pounds, 7 ounces and is 21 1/2 inches long. She has thrush, a fungus/yeast that infants sometimes get. We have to swab her mouth with some meds to get rid of that. AND she has to have a hip ultrasound on Friday. When doing the routine checkup, our doctor felt a click in her hips. He called it “loose hips.” This is a sign of hip dysplasia. While he wasn’t positive that she had it because her “click” was not totally obvious, he wants to do the ultrasound to get a good look and see what’s going on. If you catch hip dysplasia before children are 5 or 6 months, it’s usually easily fixed with a harness. My niece Ella had to wear one for 2 months when she was a baby. Aunt Denise found this great link that explains it all well – http://www.orthoseek.com/articles/hipdys.html Obviously we’re hoping that Mac doesn’t have it, but if she does, it seems a fairly easy fix (although annoying from what Denise tells me) and much better than hip surgery later.
Will is doing good – still being naughty from time to time, but like the dogs who raised him, he’s maybe 90% good and 10% naughty. It just seems that the 10% is much more memorable. We’ve been playing outside a lot enjoying what’s probably the last of our good weather. He loves Brandon’s new jeep!
